- My $.02 on Win 95. We have it at work too and it does the job, it is not
- spectacular but makes PCs a little more palatable. However, WIN95 requires
- serious horsepower, It is very slow on a 486/33, you should have a Pentium for
- best results. It is far less efficient than AMigaDos. My 3000 with a stock
- processor and AmigaDos 3.1 seems faster. Also you need 100Meg of hard drive
- space for Win95 and 8M RAM, 16Meg to do anything serious.
- I have, however, been hearing horror story upon horror story about Windows
- 95. Trashing hard drives, incompatibility, slowness. I know of many who
- sent it back and reverted to Win3.1 (or lose 3.1?)
- My thoughts are if you have a powerful PC and are running programs meant for
- Win95 like MicroSloth Office, etc, get it. I did find that old DOS programs
- like compilers and assemblers for embedded controllers work well. However,
- CAVEAT EMPTOR!!
